Pedigree : Quality's sire is the famous Selle Fransais stallion, Quick Star, was a tough, little (just 159 cms) competitor with American rider, Meredith Michaels. In 1994 he was 1st Pulsar International Grand Prix Aachen, 1st CSI Grand Prix of Munchen, 1st UPS Champion of Mannheim, 2nd Volvo World Cup Qualifier of Helsinki, 2nd CSI Grand Prix of Neuwunster. In 1993 1st Mercedes Benz Grand Prix of Mannheim, 2nd AKZO Trophy-Grand Prix of Arnhem. In 1992 1st EC Trophy CSI Grand Prix of Maastricht, 2nd Volvo World Cup qualifier Oslo. Quick Star's sire, Galoubet A was also a performer, winning an astonishing 19 Grand Prix in his career - Galoubet is by one of the all time jumping sires, Alme Z, and out of the French trotter, Viti. On his dam's side, Quick Star is again bred to perform. His dam, Stella , a 7/8th Anglo-Arab, jumped internationally with Nelson Pessoa.

Progeny of Quick Star: The stallion is becoming increasingly popular, due to the striking performances of his offspring in show-jumping. The results of his progeny, including Sprehe Stella with Meridith Micheals Beerbaum, Quilot Z, Quick Lauro Z and Quality Touch Z with Jos Lansink, SIEC Royal Star with Cameron Hanley, Quick Study with Lauren Hough, are impressive. The gelding Mine Star was World champion of five-year-old show-jumpers in Lanaken under Rolf Goran Bengtsson. In France he has a showjumping breeding (BSO) index of +23(0.64) His stock were National Champions at Fontianblue in 2008 in the 5, 6 & & Year Old categories. Quick Star is proving a good sire of stallions with Quinticus, Quebec and Cardinus in Germany, Quincy Z (ex-Omnistar), Quil ot Z and Quick Lauro Z in Belgium; Quick Star CH in Switzerland, Qualitative in Denmark, Lutin de Semilly in the KWPN , Quality Touch Z in Chile, and Indy Star in France.

His stock are well sought after by competition riders. He is well represented in both Showjumping & Eventing. His horses, Quality Fair now competing in 1.45m in Sweden;  Castleblayney competing internationally with Dermott Lennon, Chatworths Top Qualtity, Gowran Park with Andrew Bournes, Mark Q with Olive Clarke, Castlefield Eclipse with Paul O Shea, Lisona with Daragh Keirns, Castlecomer Q & Beach Ball to name e but a few. The youngsters competing in Ireland include winners in Dublin & also they represented Ireland in Lanaken. His 4 yr old son, OBOS Kristoff was the Young Event Horse League winner in 2008 & also the 4 yr old Goodwins Loyalty was we l l placed in Dublin. He has a number of horses winning out eventing, including Ballingowan Pizazz in the US, ODT Maisie Grey with Ollie Townend, Cuffsgrange Quality with Jo Aston, OBOS Apollo with June Burgess, OBOS Reilly & Fernhill Street Quality with Ka te Honey in the UK.

News - Mark Q 2002 son of Quality, owned by the Bournes Family, won the Cavan Classic 6&7 Year Old Finals in September & then joined the Irish Team in Lanaken for the Zangersheide Young Horse World Championships. He qualified for the final there without a pole down, he had an unlucky 4 faults over the massive 1.45m track, he finished a very respectable 15th with Olive Clarke in the saddle.

Performance of Quality :

Quality jumped up through the young horse ranks with Denis Coakley. He started his international career & competed on the International Show circuit including a trip to Spruce Meadows. He was a regular member of the Nations Cup Team, also with Dermot Lennon, before being retired to stud.

 

Andrew Bournes & Gowran Park (2001 mare) have represented Ireland in Lanaken in 2006, 2007 & 2008. Andrew is currently competing successfully on the US Grand Prix Circuit with her. Now jumping the 1.50m Classes. Winner of the Oxbridge $30,000 Grand Prix 2009.

Quality Fair (2001 mare) & Paul O Shea won the 5 Year Old Championship in Dublin 2007. She has represented Ireland in Lanaken & has been successful in International Young Horse Classes. Quality Fair competed consistently as a youngster. Now competing in Sweden @ 1.45m level with Lotta Wallin.
